My co-worker has a child with a life-threatening peanut allergy. We would have conversations about some of her struggles when it came to leaving her child at school, with babysitters etc… She shared these flashcards with me. It was a real eye opener.  After flipping through the cards for ten minutes everything she had been talking to me about for the past year was finally making sense. I now have a much greater understanding of why such vigilance is necessary to keep her child safe. I would recommend sharing these cards with anyone who is around a child with these allergies!

Our teachers in the young preschool room thought they were wonderful because of the vivid illustrations and the children in their classroom could easily identify the pictures.  In our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten rooms, the children were very interested in using the cards to inform their friends about the foods some of their friends were allergic to and how to recognize labels. We were very impressed with the cards, the information they contained and how interested the children were in learning more about allergies. What a great idea!!!

What an incredibly useful tool.  I too have found that while there is an abundance of information out there on food allergies, it is not in an easily usable form for use with those that don't live with food allergies on a daily basis and therefore don't have the time or interest to plow through pages and pages of information.

A unique idea for parents or caregivers of children with peanut allergies, these bright and easy to read flashcards provide important information on avoiding peanut allergies. Each card has a picture of a food or situation, with advice on avoiding dangerous interactions. These sturdy cards can be used as a game or teaching tool with children who have allergies themselves or for children sharing the classroom or daycare. They are also effective tools for caregivers to learn about peanut allergies or for presentations.

“Beyond a Peanut” allergy flashcards are very well done. The flashcards are unique in that they benefit a wide variety of audiences. They will work well in a school setting, training situation, or to provide important safety information to family, friends, or anyone who is caring for your child. These flashcards are a great educational tool which will hopefully create a better understanding of the allergy for all those who read them. We know how important education is in keeping children safe.

I received the flash cards today.  What a great tool especially for schools and extended family!  This would also be helpful when parents first become aware of a child's allergy and/or in a support group setting.  I wish I would have had this tool the day I walked out of the allergist with a pat on the back as they said "good luck".  Unfortunately I am now a veteran and train schools and other individuals.

Thanks for helping in food allergy awareness and education.

Peanut allergy can be a dangerous and even life threatening condition. Children of caring and careful parents continue to experience inadvertent peanut exposure.  "Beyond a Peanut" are a well thought out, user friendly series of flash cards that assist parents and their children in navigating the daunting waters of peanut avoidance

The information on the cards that made the greatest impression on him was not to share food. Interesting. That alone could have averted a disaster. Thanks for your wonderful cards……….”

Grandparent of a young boy with a peanut allergy.

The flashcards worked great!  It got the child care providers thinking in depth about all that they need to think of not just the obvious not feeding peanuts.

My 2 year old peanut allergic daughter has been going through them this afternoon. It's amazing how  much a child her age can comprehend! I love how they are color coded.  That makes it easy for the little ones to understand.

I have purchased your flashcards for my daughter's preschool class and they worked very well! I love your product!

I really think the cards are so handy.  They made it easy to sit down for a few minutes with a 3 or 4 year old and review very critical safety tips.  The pictures made it appealing for my son too.  I used them quite a bit myself initially as well.

Everyone loved the cards. Our allergist liked them so much, that he actually took them with him to his office to share with his patients. I need to order some for my kids.  I have an 8 year old and 6 year old and they also loved the cards.  Thank you for sending the cards for my meeting.  I am very impressed with them.

BBeyond A Peanut Allergy Flashcards, Approved by The Medical Advisory Team of
"Kids With Food Allergies".
This was written in a blog post by Jane Anne the day after her son had a reactiion.

I was a wreck that night. There was irony in my day. That very morning I had emailed a friend about how we read cake mix labels (because we were talking about parties). That night, I found my Beyond a Peanut Flashcards in the mail that I won during the Food Allergy Twitter party. (By the way, these cards are wonderfully educational. They describe, quite accurately, the symptoms my son experienced.)

“These educational flashcards are another example of a patient advocate, in this case the mother of peanut allergic children, taking the initiative to help others faced with the same problem.  These easy to read, colorful cards will be a great source of information to my patients and their families, saving me time from having to explain all the potential exposures to peanuts.  There is a lot of information for patients out there, but this concise yet thorough set of cards puts it all together in a handy package.”

How our prodcuts have helped!
I got them on Thursday, and I LOVE them!

My babysitter, fiancé, and I think that they are very helpful. I especially enjoyed that you provided websites on each card for alternative foods. We are always looking for safe snack foods for my son, and the websites were extremely helpful.

You have a great product, and I will definitely be forwarding your website to other parents of children with nut allergies.

Thank you for creating the Food Allergy Awareness Cards.  They provide excellent information and practical advice for the daily big and little decisions that people caring for children need to know.  The "Safe Ideas" will help my clients create a positive, friendly way to improve their children's safety in school and to promote awareness among classmates, family and friends as well.    Congratulations on creating such a unique and useful resource.

These cards are terrific for explaining peanut allergies in terms that everyone can understand. We have used them with 4 generations of our family and the kids think they are terrific. They refer to them often and show them to their friends. A must-have for families with peanut allergies.
